Our Virtues
As a school, we have chosen to focus on 7 key virtues. The key virtue of 'Love' underpins all of our virtues at Holy Family and our overriding belief, "Love one another as I have loved you" (John 13 34-35)
We refer to all of our virtues throughout the year however, each term we focus on a specific virtue and explore this virtue in greater depth.
Love
“Love one another as I have loved you” (John 13: 34-35)
Respect
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments!
John 14:15
Kindness
“Be kind and compassionate to one another”
Ephesians 4:32
Friendship
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends”
John 15:13
Forgiveness
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”
Matthew 5:7
Honesty
“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth”
1 John 3:18
Compassion
“Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32
We incorporate our virtues into every day school life by:
- Having our virtues displayed around the school for each and every pupil and visitor to see.
- Awarding class certificates each term in Good News assembly celebrating the class who has demonstrated the 'virtue to live by' each term.
- Integrating virtues into RE lessons, Assemblies and Prayer and Liturgy where possible.
- Taking part in a whole school assembly at the beginning of each term to introduce our termly virtue.
This ensures that all children develop a deep understanding of what each virtue represents and how this is depicted in the teaching of Jesus and how this encompasses our everyday lives.
