EAL
At Holy Family we are extremely fortunate to welcome many children from a huge range of cultures and ethnic backgrounds!
For example, we welcome children from countries such as Poland, Ghana, Nigeria, Portugal, Nepal and the Philippines. These children bring with them a range of experiences which the school is able to celebrate and share. In previous years we have held workshops including Maasai jewellery making, Islamic art and we even opened our own Airport!
Every year the school celebrates other cultures by taking part in the European Day of Languages. Links are also made through work in October during Black History Week.
Through our work in religious education we encourage and teach children to empathise with and understand all groups of people such as refugees.
EAL learners are catered for through quality first teaching in class and additional group or individual intervention as required.
In school we also have a range of dedicated resources to help support learners of English such as talking books, games and posters.
