Leaders in Faith Award - 2024

Last year, members of our Chaplaincy Lead team achieved their Bronze certificate for the  ‘Leaders In Faith Award’, which has been designed by Clifton Diocese. There are 4 levels of achievement that can be awarded: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

The aim of the award is for children to evidence what they are doing within the school community to support the Catholic Life and Mission of the school, as well as further developing their own religious knowledge.

As last year was such a success, we are looking to open the award to all children in KS2.

This award allows us to promote debate and dialogue, taking appropriate action and putting Catholic Social Teaching in action. The Bronze Award tasks are as follows:

  • Able to set up a focal area to support the prayer life of the class based on a given theme unaided (SEN can be aided)
  • Able to articulate the meaning of prayer, compile a thanksgiving and reconciliation prayer unaided.
  • Able to participate in an activity that supports the schools charity work.
  • Actively contributes and participates in a whole school collective worship.
  • Able to articulate the difference between Jesus and God and their relationship to one another.
  • Able to recognise and describe the following symbols and images, a cross, an advent wreath, rosary beads, ashes, sign of the cross
  • Able to list the liturgical seasons and the colours associated with them.
  • Able to describe how their school shows it is a Catholic school.
  • Able to retell a story from the New Testament and the Old Testament.
  • Able to name the gospel writers

In order to achieve the award children must have achieved 8 of the possible 10 tasks. The criteria must be evidenced based and validated by their class teacher and signed off by Mrs Hatherall/Mrs Kordula.  We will celebrate the completion of each level of Award with each child being presented a certificate during Good News Assembly and their names being added to our Pilgrims of Hope Board.
